For all those considering CAI mod ...be warned of high water. 2 of my friends have lost their motors because of them. please please use caution.

just don't do it at all ...the consequences out-weigh the benefits
if you want colder air just duct some air from the front of the bumper opening to the filter |

you didn;t duct shiti man!
that's stock and if you could see how convelouted that system is you would know that it's better to take the plastic out all together as for ideal air setup in a celica... cold air is cold air.. make an air box in the same area as the the battery and relocate that to the trunk then remove the plastic ducting and use some hvac hose to bring up air to that opening and run that to the fog light area but do not put it in a "ram air posisition" just let it suck it in from there... ram air isn't helpful until mach one and trust me your car isn't that fast.... once oyu have this setup you should be starting to sound better and shouldn't have any fear of waterlock but as far as power goes this will only help your top end and withthe amount spent you really should have invested in an exhaust setup instead. btw.. of all the mods i have now i would say the only one that was truly worth salt was the header..it makes the biggest diffrence and also make the rest of the mod's make sence... |

Battery in trunk, removes the heat going into the intake, as well as frees up air restriction.

no...the battery in the celica isn't really a heat issue.. it's a weight issue...
as for restriction..meh.. it's not really in the way.. moving it jsut creates alot more room for ambient air around the filter and that discourages heat sink and encourages flow |

You may have your doubts but we've sceen the difference. first on boosted GT's car and now on Martin's. The Header just made the intake and exaust mods come together as a full unit

if you were talking to me ...i would say grow up. *this is a technical forum and your immature comments are what ruin a perfectly informative discussion.
on a side note ...i would never touch a car that took $500 to turbocharge. |

a good quality $500 turbo set up is completely possible as long as you know the right people!

Possibly, but that parts wont be new. Here is why...
Turbo ...ATLEAST $500 Manifold ...ATLEAST $150 Wastegate ...ATLEAST $100 Oil/Coolant lines ...ATLEAST $50 Now... this is for proper brand new good quality brand name parts: Turbo ....$750 Manifold ...$300 Wastegate ...$200 Oil/Coolant lines ...$100 I didn't even throw in custom exhaust downpipe and intake pipe. Of course then you have to have the proper fuel supply and tuning strategy. Turbocharging a car is not a light modification. If you want the components to last and the engine to last you have to pay to play as always. ***If you can honestly find these parts cheaper, let me know ...and I will be sure to to check them out for myself. |

If you were buying the parts off ebay you'd be right $500 for a turbo would be a decent price.
Clearly you don't know the right people! I have everything in my garage to do a 5sfte minus the turbo MAP and AFM. I know an engine importer where I can get used Turbo's for like $200 or find them online or between friends. No these parts will not be new but even at the prices you've described you'd be hard pressed to get them all new. Its not what you know... its who you know! |

i have asked this question like 3 times, i dont ant to tinker with the air flow simply because the way toyot has it set up seems pretty efficient and i dont give a shit about sound... will i notice much of a gain by doing up a cold air intake system?

this is a technical forum?
no man.. this is a place where enthusiasts come and shoot the shit and learn about things...it's a home to humor, knowledge and friends that meet daily online to strengthen their minds and in some cases weeken them (like when reading your posts) realistcaly you need to think about your statments my turbo setup cost me all of 200 bucks and is all in mint condition it includes fuel injectors, turbo, manifold, downpipe (2.5 inch) o2 sensors, gaskets, piping, lines and much more... wanna know why? cause people like me! i have also got reason to believe that an fc tuner has alot to learn if he dosn't think he can throw boost at an engine for 500 bucks.. i have added a t to a 13b for less than that and it's still running now. anywyas it wasn't aimed at you it was at scott his intake was basicaly a filter replacemnt and he gave a "WORD" to your comment which was correct...however he hadn't ducted his... his was stock piping whit the box pulled and a KnN added... have a look at the pics... filter + hose clamp does not equal CAI had he created a true pipe for it and pulled the plastic triangular tubing and reloacted the battery like i had he would still only have a very good short ram... all in all i have done more junk to more 5th on this site than you both have and i knwo what works from experience not from guessing and theroy... listen up to what i said and you will see it works... locker has seen my setup and though it's good it's not perfect and even i will tell you that you can do better if you take the time... but i waste my time here to much explaing shit to people that havn't got a clue what they are bitching about. childish? maybe immature? for sure right? absolutly |

gains are very noticable after 3000 rpm if proper outlets are in place. with out a proper exhaust and timing there is only sound and perhaps 1-2 hp to be found max
