how to install a walbro 255lph fuel pump

WARNING: i am not responsible for anything that happens with this installation. also do not
smoke or have any source of spark or open flame and make sure you are in a
well ventalated area.

Note: the walbro pump maybe smaller in size than your stock pump but it will still work

the walbro fuel pump is really easy to install, it should take you about an hour or two depending on your mechanical ability.
i will do a step by step how to (well how i did it).

1. first thing your going to have to do is gain access to the fuel tank acess panel.

2. to gain access to your fuel tank access panel your going to have to remove your
rear seats. the seat is held in by two clips that are located between the seat and the
floor. to remove the seat just press the clips to the side and lift up on the seat. it
should come out without any problems.

3. once the seat is removed start the car and remove the electrical clip from the fuel tank
acces panel, this will use any of the exsisting fuel that is left in the lines. you could also
try to remove the EFI fuse, and let it run till the car dies. either way ones the car dies the
fuel is out of your lines.

4. after you clear the lines remove the negative terminal from your battery, this will aid in
prevent any sparks or ignition of the fuel

5. after clearing the lines you will want to remove the gas cap. this will release whatever air
pressure is in your tank and clear the return lines.

6. once all this is done you are ready to start pulling the fuel pump.

7. to remove the fuel tank access panel your going to have to remove the screws that are
holding it into place. remove these screws. and push the electrical connector through the
panel

8. once the access panel is removed your going to have to disconnect two lines, one line is
attached by a hollow fuel bolt (fuel supply line) with two crush washers. and the other is
attached by a clamp (fuel return).

9. next your going to have to remove the fuel pump assembly. this is held on by bolts.
remove the bolts and slowly remove the assembly.
this assembly has the fluid level indicator and fuel pump attached to it.

10. once the whole assembly is removed. remove it from the car and goto a clear and clean
work area to install the fuel pump into the assembly

11. to remove the old pump your going to have to remove two nuts, two clamps and a hose
that attach the pump to the assembly itself.

12. now to install all the components to the walbro pump. your going to have to install a new
sock/filter screen onto the bottom of the pump. this filter is attached by a lock washer.
once this is installed install the power cable to the pump. this just simply clips right in.
one wire is red(+) the other is black(-)

13. to install the pump into the fuel pump assembly simply just connect the fuel line from
the pump to the unit itself( you may have to trim the hose). and use two clamps (you
could use the old ones if you didnt destroy them) and place one at both sides of the fuel
hose. there is also a rubber gasget/mounting pad that goes at the bottom of the pump.
do not use the one for the old pump. use the one that came with the walbro pump

now the tricky part. to attach power to the fuel pump. use the wires that attached to the
old pump. strip off about 5-10mm of both wires (one should be black the other should
be green) the green wire is your positive(+) and the black is your negitve/ground(-), use
a wire splice/butt connector to connect the wires from the fuel pump to the assembly. the
red wire on the pump is the positive (+) and the black is your negative(-). so just simily
just attached the red wire(+) from the pump to the green wire of the pump assembly. do
the same for the negitive/ground.

WARNING: if you connect the wires wrong the pump will flow backwards and will not pump
fuel to your engine.

14. once the assembly is complete just simpily install it back into the tank, attach all lines,
temp install the clip from the car to the assembly and finaly reconnect the battery and
dont forget to install your gas cap.

15. note: do not install the access panel untill you check the lines for fuel leakage.

16. once all the lines and the connector are connected back up, start up your car. your car
will take alittle longer to start because your lines are clear of fuel and will need to pump
fuel into them

17. with the car started, check your fuel connections for leak's have the car run for approx
5 min and if theres no leaks. turn your car off, reinstall the access panel and seats.

18. your done.

Mishaps/blunders that may happen

if you dont flush the lines of fuel or not take out your gas cap you will have an annoying ammount of fuel flow out of your supply line and return line. trust me i would know, i did it the first time i changed a fuel pump. also dont reply on the efi fues. i took it out the first time and waited appox 10-20 min for my car to die and it didnt do anything. so just remove the connector from the assembly and the car will die in about ehh .5 seconds. if you have any trouble you can email me at subspec@tmail.com. and i will return your email asap.
