new idle problem

alright, the previous problem with the idle has been fixed BUT

it's got a new type of oddity going on, idle is stable in park, stable without giving it gas it's just there doing it's thing, it's a little rough because it needs a tune up, and right up to 1900 it's normal, but as soon as you hold it at 2k it bounces between 1500 and 2000 like it raises kinda slowly and just drops off real fast as soon as it hits the mark, and over 2k is fine. and it's fine at all rpm's while driving.

any help on this one would be awesome guys.

thats a real head scratcher, I would say start by making sure your getting proper air, fuel, and spark. When its doing this is the enigne cutting out and restarting?

that's the thing, the engine isn't the problem at all, it's running strong all through it, it doesn't even skip a beat. I'm going to get new plugs/plug wires/and a distributor/ see if it still does all this.

I've never seen anything like it before.

*edit*
I also forgot to mention (but i doubt it's the case but you never know)
the intake hose from the throttle body to the actual filter housing has a crack in it at the throttle body end, so it doesnt' get the best seal, but it ran with it like that before the swap, so i think it just still has some kinks that need to be worked out, it is an old car after all.

making these things right again isn't ever as easy as it originally seems.

3sfe to a 3sfe. the old one was beyond shot and I didn't want to get anything bigger yet.

it's a jdm 3sfe so a few parts had to be swapped over and everything is running fine except for that, it ran at 1500 rpm at idle before too though, I wasn't actually present when that problem was fixed so I'm not sure the process behind fixing it.

this sounds like the EXACT same problem I had about 2 years ago. Duct tape the hole and check... this worked for me, since a new hose was about $150CDN.
