intermittent overheating-new everything!
I have a 86 GTS. 3sge. I installed a new engine. I installed a new water pump and radiator. I have been driving it about two months when I started to get an intermittent overheat condition. I noticed that the air coming out of the heater would go cold and the car's temp would rise, then the air would get hot from the heater and the car's temp would cool down. I thought a sticking thermostat for sure. I have been through three of them now and have the same problem. I have flushed the coolant system three times also. Anyone experience this problem??? The air from the heater goes cold and the car's temp gets hot everytime, I though possible partial plug from the heater core???? Could use some help...thanks

I had the same problem on one of my celica's , all it was is that the coolant control valve(the valve located on the firewall with hoses leading to heater core) for the heater core is slipping out position. Hope my info helps
