Sticky gas pedal on 87 gt-s

Just got this car, and I feel like the gas pedal is too hard to depress, and it doesnt come back quick enough. Now, I don't have much experience with many different cars, especailly older ones, so I may be out of line here. Is this most likely just a matter of lubricating the wire and throttle and such, or is that just the way the car is?

Thanks
Jeremy
