Recent experience with hesitation problem.
I just the other day bought an 89 Celica Conv. The car had a slight hesitation when pulling away from a stop. If you accelerated lightly the hesitation was more pronounced, but if you really stepped on the gas there was little to no hesitation. Once you were moving the car ran great.
I figured it was maybe a clogged fuel injector. What it turned out to be was an Air Intake Hose that was no longer creating a proper seal. I noticed that the guy had used some duct tape around the end of intake tube attatched to the throttle body. When I pulled that off and tried to attatch it better I couldn't get it to seal again properly and the problem with the car became much worse. I replaced the air intake hose this morning and now the car runs great. No hesitation at all and the idle is even a bit smoother. Just a little FYI for those who might be having a similar problem. |
