3sgte
Alright guys thanks for the help on the last topic. I have decided to go with the 3sgte but i'm not going with the st165 i want eigther the st205 or the mk3 from the 94-98 mr2. I want the st205 but the problem is what transmission should i go with... I mean it comes with a 5spd. awd tranny but i don't have the drive shaft or rear diff. to use the awd... if anyone knows where to get them please let me know... or i'm going to sacrifice 10hp.

stock tranny wont hold for very long. I know the ST185 motor should fit with MR2 tranny, the ST205 should be the same.

all the 3sgte trannies are interchangeable, the st165 tranny has the best ratios imo. Definately use the alltrac tranny, just dump the trasfer case if ur going 2wd. If your going to put a lot of power, while the tranny is out upgrade the clutch and cryo the syncos, from my experience the stock clutch is good for stock levels.

Which would be explained by him wanting to swap his transmission out along with his stock engine when he puts in the 3SGTE.
Okay, so I don't know if you've got a 3SFE or 3SGE. Either way, it's an S-series engine, so the engine itself will not require custom mounts, even sourcing a 3SGTE from an overseas sixth-gen (the ST205 never having been sold in North America). Your best option on the transmission is to use an E153, either from a late-model MR2 Turbo in which case your linkages are backwards because it's configured for RWD, or from a V6 Camry. The Camry's version of the E153 lies in that it is already configured for FWD. However, to mate the E153 transmission to the wheels will require sourcing the All-trac, IIRC, outer shafts. Using a GT4/All-trac transmission is inefficient, since it's not designed to be blocked off and half-used. You will also need the All-trac cross-member to support the E153 transmission. Try car-part.com to find used transmissions in junkyards across the continent, including provincial searches.

on top of the alltrac tranny not ment to be used in a fwd configuration, you will only get 50% of the power using this tranny, just swap it for a v6 tranny out of a solara or a camry, they will both hold fine. The best would be a mr2 tranny with lsd, you will need the inner half shafts & alltrac outers to get that to work.
