5sfe or 3sgte?
So this is goin gto get some different oppinons but that's what I need... I have an 88 celica gt with a 3sfe engine... I'm deffinatly going to swap it out but I'm not sure if I want to put the 5sfe in there and supercharge it of just put a 3sgte in and modify that... Any oppinion will help.

I'd go for the 3sgte to start with its a much better base to start your mod's on. The 5sfe is an engine built for economy.

Voted for 3SGTE they are generally built very well and lots of potensal for upgrading.

3SGTE. Supercharge the 5SFE for what? Not worth it.
For that matter, just keep the 88GT as a second car and get an ST165 too. I'm serious. You can get a decent 165 for $2,000+ which is about what you're gonna spend on motor, installation, modifications, etc, anyways. You'll spend more than that on either of the 2 options you listed. |

alright guys first off the coment about buying a st165 i don't like the hatchback but it is a good idea for a parts cars. and as for the one about costing alot for instalation and shit.. i'm doing all my work myself but for all of you out there who want someone elses work into your car there is a company that will beef up your 3sgte the adress is http://www.racetep.com/mr2tpart.htm have fun and happy tuning.
