87 and 88 Supension differences??
I have an 87 ST that I am retiring. I have an 88 GT Coupe that I am keeping- for now. The 88 has some significant pulling caster on the right front and I may want to swap parts in from my 87 if the caster is from bent suspension parts and not from bent body. Further, my 87 has camber adjustment in front and the 88 does not (as I recall).
Hard to say, but it seems like the two cars ride differently, though both have beat struts. I haven't measured, but it looks like the two have different ride heights too. I spent some time at the dealer once and found that the part numbers for the springs of the two years (or models) were different. Looking today at a couple of sites for struts, I see that the replacement part numbers (from KYB) are different for the two years. I don't want to spend money on this car if I don't have to so I'd like to swap or mix-and-match parts between the two. Does anyone know what the actual differences are between the struts/springs/dampers of the two years/models? Different valving? Firmer/softer/taller/shorter springs? Etc, Etc. How about the swaybars? |
