Re: need help with swap

Or sence you have a 3sge. Why don't you swap out the pistons for low compresson ones get a ct20 or ct26 turbo and manifolds. Wireharness and ecu and you got yourself a 3sgte. Just my 2 cents.

Re: need help with swap

I'd go with a 185 motor personally. both 165.185,205,215 motors will bolt up and each will require some wiring. I know 165,185 are simpler than the later gens though.
your 3sge tranny will bolt up but how long it'll last is up for debate. some blow them at 5000k or less others drive for years.
You simply use the 3sgte flywheel and pressure plate and a 3sge clutch disk

Re: need help with swap

the 185 is what i thought would be best to but im unsure on if my starter setup will work because my starter would be under the turbo and what trans would i swap in and what is it out of

Re: need help with swap

starter bolts in on the tranny so don't worry about that.
Tranny choices are limited. You can use a 5 speed camry v6 tranny or a mr2 tranny converted to FWD. Some MR2 tranny's come with limited slip so are more expensive.
Converting the mr2 tranny to FWD requires parts from an alltrac tranny though isn't hard to do. you'll also need MR2 inner drive shafts and alltrac outer shafts as well as alltrac shifter cables (that part is up for debate I'm told)

Re: need help with swap

with any trac motor you will need the FE transmissioin. the ge starter is in the way of exhaust manifold. go with the 4th gen fe transmission. most likely to last. direct bolt up on everything. comes down to time and money. best of luck. oh, if you have the 185 or 205 motor you will need to make a hood scoop for the air to air intercooler.

That's only if he decides to keep the top mount. If he gets a front. Then no hood needed.
