if boosting your gonna need low comp pistions also. flywheel shouldnt be a big factor.

I don't know if you can use the 3sgte flywheel or not.
I know if your using a stock tranny for a 3s swap you use the 3sgte flywheel and pressure plate and the 5sfe disk but I don't know if you can swap out the flywheel is your noting using the 3sgte

celica flyweel

im using a 93 celica gts tranny in my 87 celica whit the 3sge engine, im planing on using the 93 celica starter so i can used the 3sgte manifold and turbo, but it wont work whit the stock flyweel,

I imagine if there all from the same series motors/tranny they should fit. The problem with the gt/gts tranny is it may not hold the output of the 3sgte. Some hold some blow right after startup. But as locker said you gotta use the disk if you plan on useing the 5s tranny.

Also with the starter it has nothing to do with the turbo or manifold. There seperate systems.

Manifold bolts to the head and head bolts onto the block and the transmission bolts to the block where the starter splines into the flywheel and is externaly mounted to the tranny.

starter doesnt go under the manifold. it goes off to the drivers side.



only thing that comes close to the turbo manifold is the oil cooler



if your talking about the side feed intake manifold you would need pipeing made to fit your special application.

personaly id go with a front mount intercooler. so you would be ran like this. doesnt matter how the pipes ran. some turbos are actualy in the rear of the car by the muffler belive it or not.

Too much mis information, let me clear some of it for you.

Firstly the 3sgte flywheel will not work - it uses a 8 bolt PCD where as the 3SGE uses a 6 bolt PCD, use the 3sge flywheel, get it re-surfaced if you plan on putting in a new clutch disk, you can use the gen1 3SGTE pressure plate as it shares the same pressure plate mounting bolt PCD as the GE flywheel/pressure plate.

Secondly the S53 tranny(5th gen Celica) has the starter motor mounted on the drivers side(left) of the bellhousing where as the C53(4th gen Celica) has it mounted on the passenger side (right). You will need to use/order a 5th gen clutch disk (stgII or greater) if you use the S54 transmission. Your 4th gen axles will fit. However in order to properly mount the S54 tranny into the 4th gen Celica you will need to source a drivers side(left) tranny mount and mounting bracket(4th gen GT with the 3SFE motor) the 5th gen S54 tranny mount and mounting bracket will NOT fit the 4th gen Celica frame rail bracket.

No need to swap out the pistons there compression isnt that much higher compaired to the GTE pistons unless you have an uber rare 3SGE LU motor(11:1 comp) which I highly doubt you do, If you dont plan on boosting beyond 10PSI the 3sge motor will run fine even with the factory head gasket. Swap the GTE top feed injectors into the GE fuel rail, and if you have or can obtail a complete uncut gen1 3SGTE engine wiring harness it will make the swap plug and play. As a matter of fact you dont need to swap out any of the GE's internal engine components for GTE ones. Swap only what bolted on the outside of the GTE motor to the GE motors longblock ie manifolds, turbo, oil pan, water neck, TVIS with associated VSV components, intercooler, throttle body, injectors. You will need to tap into an oil source for the turbo oil feed though, side of the head where the oil pressure switch is located come to mind as well as a coolant source for the turbo's coolant feed and return. You wont be able to use the GTE hose from hell or oil cooling system not unless you plan to drill and tap the block.
