Firstly the 3sgte flywheel will not work - it uses a 8 bolt PCD where as the 3SGE uses a 6 bolt PCD, use the 3sge flywheel, get it re-surfaced if you plan on putting in a new clutch disk, you can use the gen1 3SGTE pressure plate as it shares the same pressure plate mounting bolt PCD as the GE flywheel/pressure plate.

Secondly the S53 tranny(5th gen Celica) has the starter motor mounted on the drivers side(left) of the bellhousing where as the C53(4th gen Celica) has it mounted on the passenger side (right). You will need to use/order a 5th gen clutch disk (stgII or greater) if you use the S54 transmission. Your 4th gen axles will fit. However in order to properly mount the S54 tranny into the 4th gen Celica you will need to source a drivers side(left) tranny mount and mounting bracket(4th gen GT with the 3SFE motor) the 5th gen S54 tranny mount and mounting bracket will NOT fit the 4th gen Celica frame rail bracket.

No need to swap out the pistons there compression isnt that much higher compaired to the GTE pistons unless you have an uber rare 3SGE LU motor(11:1 comp) which I highly doubt you do, If you dont plan on boosting beyond 10PSI the 3sge motor will run fine even with the factory head gasket. Swap the GTE top feed injectors into the GE fuel rail, and if you have or can obtail a complete uncut gen1 3SGTE engine wiring harness it will make the swap plug and play. As a matter of fact you dont need to swap out any of the GE's internal engine components for GTE ones. Swap only what bolted on the outside of the GTE motor to the GE motors longblock ie manifolds, turbo, oil pan, water neck, TVIS with associated VSV components, intercooler, throttle body, injectors. You will need to tap into an oil source for the turbo oil feed though, side of the head where the oil pressure switch is located come to mind as well as a coolant source for the turbo's coolant feed and return. You wont be able to use the GTE hose from hell or oil cooling system not unless you plan to drill and tap the block.

Ok well seeing how you know a lot of technical information im almost finished with my build just ran into a small but very anoying problem i took my 3sge gold valve covered head and bolted it to a 94 camary 5sfe block took my flywheel because the 5sfe block was an auto at the junk yard took what i think was a later model tranny with the started on the drivers side bought a starter for the 5sfe and the teeth dont touch when i go to start it. is there another starter that i can use that will reach or do i have to go find a 5sfe flywheel and go through the head ache of pulling the engine back out to fix it?

the 3sge engine of o celica gts as 115 teeth flyweel, you net a flywheel whit 120, so you can used starter, the 3sgte flyweel as 120 teeth, an you can used it whit the 3sge engine, i dont now if it will fit the 5sfe block, probably yes ´

its just not reaching out and touching the flywheel it will just sit and spin and i have tried two different starters. i am also having trouble with timing i had my buddy pull me and it sounded like it was trying to start but it was back firing through the intake i went and made sure that the timing was right on i just dont know if the larger 2.2 block will need the timing set different.

Re: can i used a 3sgte flyweel on a 3sge celica

why would you down grade to the fe flywheels? you got a gte, so go with the gte. and it wouldnt really matter what flywheel you went with. as long as its the same. as in fe to fe or ge to ge. dont got fe to ge. from memory, the fe has like 6 bolts holding it in and the ge has 8. i forget. but the bolts i know for sure arent the same. the ge bolts are bigger. and its better that you use the fe gear box as well. the flywheel should just go right on

Thanks for the advice bro !! but im running a 3SGTE with a 3SFE gearbox !! so wouldnt a 5SFE clutch kit and flywheel b better ? as far as i know they are identical ??

WOW! I apologize since I havent been on here in a while. Maybe I am too late to speak up but you never know. First of all I am speaking from experience. I have a 3sge with a 3sgte flywheel. BOTH are 8 bolt cranks (not 6 as stated earlier) The bolt diameters are different (M10 for 3sge and M12 for 3sgte) Secondly..C53??? The 4th gen uses and S53 just like the 5th gen. The difference is that the GTS tranny has the starter coming in from the passeneger side. A simple tranny swap (or bell housing swap if you are bold enough) will solve this problem. As for a starter to use. The 3sfe starter fits in and works just fine. Recap. 3sge engine, 3sgte flywheel, 3sge clutch disc, 3sgte pressure plate, 3sge release (throw out) bearing, 3sfe tranny (or 3sge tranny with 3sfe/5sfe bellhousing). This will get your engine and transmission together. No disrespect to anyone. I say this info because I have done this build 2 times (i have 2 3sges)
