1987 Celica GT-S Problem

Hey,

My Celica has been acting quite funny lately. it's been nearly stalling when i engage the clutch in first gear. while almost stalling it putts along as though the gas is about to run out (happens at lower rpm's). ive talked to a few people about this and they've all given me different ideas on what it could be, they've said it sounds like the "Tranmission, Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, Fuel Injection, Spark Plugs." I have yet to talk to a mechanic about it though. But I was looking at the engine today and saw that a plug looks like its broken coming from the speed control. I'm not a car guy so I really have no idea whats going on....

Any help?

Thank you

Re: 1987 Celica GT-S Problem

Hmm you have a problem very similar to mine it seems. When I would start it up and let it idle, the rpms would rapidly drop, eventually resulting in the car stalling. If I would continually rev it, then it would not stall but I would have to do it constantly.

Try checking your MAF, a sensor may be loose. My problem would usually happen when I check the air filter; so something must wiggle loose when I open the AF box.

Try that; it might help. I am no mechanic myself so that is the best help I can give.

Let me know what happens.

-Tanner.
