celica plz help engine screwed

My girlfriend drover her celica when it was over heated and now there’s coolant leaking. I think its coming from the side of the engine it’s not come from any of the radiator piping,

So I tried to take the cam cover off, it took me a hour to just take all of the bolts of rolleyes.gif,

then i realized i cant take it out by pulling it upwards, there’s a big mount on the side of the engine it doesn’t look like its connected to any thing does any one know if it is I cant really see and can I take it of.

Also what do you guys think could be wrong blown head gasket? What else could happen when driven overheated, she drove it for a good 10min over heated.

That's your engine mount. Two nuts from the bottom and the bolt you see on the top. It could be blown head gasket or just water pump.

You need to explain more in depth on where it's leaking from? I'll guess at the moment is that while she was driving a hose broke which cause the overheat. Get back to us regarding a closer inspection on where it's leaking and I can supply a better answer.

Re: celica plz help engine screwed

Check your coolant for oil in it (or no coolant at all if you busted a hose). Check the oil for bubbles/coolant in it via the dipstick. Either of these conditions suggests a blown HG. If the coolant is coming from underneath the timing cover (cam cover), then it may be the water pump.

You'll want the Toyota BGB (best) or at least a Haynes World/Chilton/whatever they have in Australia manual before you start doing things like messing w/ the timing belt, engine mount, etc. You've got to support the engine before taking off the engine mount bracket or you're gonna be hating life real quick!

A busted hose might be the entire problem, but if there's no busted hose, then you've got to find the cause of the overheat, not just the results of it. Check your radiator fans to make sure they work. Replace the thermostat (it's a cheap insurance). Check the coolant temp sensor. Make sure all your electrical stuff is working correctly while you're finding/fixing the mechanical/visual problems.

Exactly what Pinny said. its a mount and you need a long extention and get it from the bottom. its more than likely the head gasket but if I were you I'd replace the Tbelt and water pump while its apart as well.
