Clutch + Master Cylinder?

So here is my problem, I have a 1987 Celica GT-S and when I push my clutch in and shift and pull out the clutch I get no push what so ever. It feels like my clutch isn't doing anything at all. I can push my clutch in 3rd gear and take it out almost as fast as I want and I barely even notice my clutch engaging. Do I need a new master cylinder or a new clutch?

Re: Clutch + Master Cylinder?

Are you losing fluid?
Does the pedal retract or does or stay on the floor?
You may just have a leaky slave or clutch master cylinder.

Re: Clutch + Master Cylinder?

i dont think its leaking its just extremely soft... i believe its better now, and i replaced my slave already so im guessing it could only be my master... would make sense...

Re: Clutch + Master Cylinder?

If you replaced the slave already then I'm, assuming you bled all the air out, right?
SPongy pedal may mean some residual air in the system.

Re: Clutch + Master Cylinder?

I find the clutch pedal in my 89GTS to be very soft too. As long as you can shift and the clutch engages with no issues....
