I have acquired a free 4wd turbo celica.

Well I go to school for automotive and a guy who just graduated gave my instructors a lot of trouble. He was working an a red 4wd celica turbo while he attended and he has yet to pick it up and tow it back to his home after 2 months. It has a brand new rack and pinion, brand new turbo, and brand new interior. My instructors said look I know you gave him money for your jetta parts that he never brought in so take whatever you want from him , including his car. So me and a buddy are going to go pick it up. It is a canadian spec car and I live in the US. Just thought I would share how I am getting my 4wd Celica and introduce myself to you guys.

I would tend to think it is, I doubt he will ever be back to pick it up. It will sit there for years and years.

Well suppose he does come back? The title is in his name... so that would be stealing and you would get arrested.... the instructor should get the car towed and fill out a police report not just give it away to someone... Good luck to you though... you better hope he does not come back for your sake

You guys read past the fact that he stole my 100 dollars, I need something for that. Until he either gives me my money or gives me what I paid for I am keeping his car. Also I am just buying a title next week.

Ok does it look like I care at this point? It wasn't fair what he did and I know 2 wrongs don't make a right but this is all I can do. I appreciate you giving me a good luck and everything but dude when people argue against people that have had wrong done to them, they either know nothing about the situation or are jealous.

Actually, it sounds like a Mechanic's Lean was put on the title, which makes it their car after X amount of time it is abandoned. Its completely legal.

Why ruin your life for an jack ass?
Don't take the whole car, part it out.
You can't register it without ownership. Unless you know someone to change VIN number which is highly illegal.

The vin has already been dremeled off the frame, and I took the vin plate off another car.

I might part it out but I want to keep it, I can get a new title for it for $50 from the local registry.

guy

these boys whom are trying to talk you out of this mess, know their shit

they've been around a lot longer than you, and have seen people like you come and go.

I'm sure your a respectable kid and all, and going 'OMG ITS MY 1ST CAR' or whatever, but try spending the next few months/years of your life in jail. You'll have you're first car, and your first ass raping.

If a mechanics lien is on it, the mechanic can say he sold it to you to cover the costs of the storage/repair. THIS IS LEGAL, the mechanic would have to reg the car, but oh wait, the VIN was dremeled off, thus making it look fishy.

Whether you get another VIN for it, if you ever get into a collision and by chance they run the VIN against the engine plate (keep in mind the world right now is against street racing and this and that, not saying YOU'RE going to, but the car is a target by police for people who 'street race', pretty much any sport import car is).

Now, you'll shrug me off too, but if you don't believe me, go to a payphone, call the police, and detail out your situation anonymously, ask them what the law says in your matter, or call a lawyer. If you wanna try to go ahead with this, fine, but you my friend may be in a heap of trouble you don't need just getting done school, It can seriously ruin your life.

Re: I have acquired a free 4wd turbo celica.

dont bother getting the title, just hold on to the car untill you can contact the owner and let him know that you have his car and want your money, if he says to you he no longer wants the car then get a written signed document from him for the car. taking his 3000$+ car and messing around with it for 100 bucks and getting in trouble anyways with the law is not worth it.

Re: I have acquired a free 4wd turbo celica.

Make sure there is a mech lean on it before taking it...otherwise you are legally stealing the car, even if he owes you 100 bucks this is black and white. The fact that the Vin is dremeled off is pure sketch too, but it is a way to bypass him and keep it , albeit illegal. Think this through and make sure you know what you doing, no one is babysitting you were are just giving you sound advice and we dont need to be in your shoes to understand whats going on...you spelled out the situation did u not?

Re: I have acquired a free 4wd turbo celica.

Seriously though, did it have a mechanic's lean? If so, thats your ticket and you should take advantage of it. If not, do what geopat said and get ahold of the guy. Seriously, you don't want this to come back and bite you in the ass.
