Re: jspec 3sfe..
why would someone with a A series motor be looking at a 3sfe....
that would involve movig your passenger side mount for basically 0 gain.....

Re: jspec 3sfe..
well iam about to get 800 to spend... and i like the 3s blocks better.... than the 5s series dont ask why :) iam changing the clutch so... i decided to buy a new motor... but not one that would require changing the wiring harness... is there any motors that are compadible with my wiring harness.. and were might i go about getting a jdm edu... ive reed up on the jdm 3sfe it puts out 140hp @ 5600 rpm usdm spec puts out 115@ 6000 rpm(iam not sure if that 100% correct tho, but thats what ive read).... so iam gessing the jspec will hold its max power longer too... and that would be nice... iam not trying to make a race car , just a fast lil sports car....
i changed my auto tranny in my cavalier in about 16 hours... it wasnt hard just long and tiring... the celicas look ALOT easier to work on too.. and i dont think i could change a wiring harness... sounds too hard... |

Re: jspec 3sfe..
1. swapping 3sfe to 5sfe is easy
2. wanting to stay with a 3 series motor is smart. but staying with the 3sfe motor is stupid 3. If your spending $800 on a JDM 3sfe your waisting money your right the celica is fairly easy to work on....you can get a 140 hp 5sfe for less than 500 and you don't need to change your harness. I know.. I've done it

Re: jspec 3sfe..
I haven't heard of the JDM 3SFE having more HP than the USDM version.
Some of the later version 3SGTE's did have more HP than their North American counterparts b/c of the higher Japanese octane and more aggressively tuned ECU's. For the 87-89 3SFE, I don't believe that was the case. It was, after all, an economy engine. |
