what struts and shocks

what shocks and struts will work on a 86 i been looking all over for some aftermarket ones i just bought the car a week ago been on here for a day i think it will be a fun toy

We've only got two choices - KYB GR2 stock replacements and Koni Yellows. The KYB are about $55 each (AJUSA.com is best price I've seen) and the Konis about about $650-700 for a set. Yeh, that's quite a price spread.

Unless you're going to be seriously racing your car or have the spare $$$, go with the KYB. They're a good shock and will handle up to 1.5" of drop.

If you want to go crazy, GT4 fronts will fit (you can get KYB ABX adjustables) but their rears are quite different. Supposedly you can do some cutting and welding to make them work.

Gen4's are a forgotten car, not much available out there. Bummer...

BTW, if you replace your struts, I'd recommend replacing the front upper mounts. The bearings and rubber wear out over time and add a bunch of slop into the system, it can make a diff with new ones. They're about $55 each, made by KYB.

will the kyb's work for an '89 celica gts?

*EDIT* i noticed in the car selection it gives me gts sport or gt or st, how do i tell what mine is? i thought it was just gts. thanks in advance. P.S. according to the info my bros gave me(his car) it's '89 gts, we want to get them replaced asap
