he was talking about an ecu to manipulate fueling, I just think that kind of money ($1500+ for the unit, another 500 for tuning?) could be better spent on more effective modifications. I guess it all depends on your power goals, at a certain power point, you'll need an ECU replacement/piggyback anyways

Exactly my point. You can buy a pre-mapped Power FC (with a digital commander) for under $900 CAD now, from MWR (2zz or 1zz applications). If you start with this, you get immediate "gains", and as you add your mods (I/H/E), you already have an adaptive ECU to work with.
If you ask anyone who has a GT-S and a Power FC, they will tell you that it is the best bang-for-your-buck mod available.
