martin had 225-50-16 on his rim---------why not go wider than 215mm

the sidewall will bubble more
it's not so bad on a 225-50 but with a smaller profile it will look ugly
if your way off, ur ride will be unsafe

NB tire width is manufacturer dependent.. e.g. a Yokohama 205 may not be the same size as a Pirelli 205

tire companies will recommend a rim width for their tires
